Welcome to a "Girl, Take the Lead!" Sound Bite –a short episode which may be a bit more about a topic we’ve covered in the longer form podcast or a quick inspiration. This episode is an inspirational moment. In the book Warriors of the Heart, Danaan Parry provides us the Trapeze Parable which talks about transitions: “the past is gone, the future is not yet here. It’s called transition.”
It's so good, I wanted to share it with you!

Hi there, welcome to. Episode 79 of Girl.
00:00:11
Take the lead. And this is a sound bite.
00:00:14
A sound bite is a shorter episode.
00:00:16
From our longer form. Podcast.
00:00:19
Or it can be a quick inspiration which?
00:00:21
Is what our episode is today. And I'm your host yo Canny.
00:00:26
Today's episode. Comes from the book.
00:00:29
Warriors of the Heart by. Denon Perry.
00:00:32
And this parable is called the parable of the trapeze, which
00:00:36
is. About turning.
00:00:38
The fear. Of transformation into the
00:00:43
transformation of fear. And the parable begins like
00:00:47
this. Sometimes I feel my life.
00:00:51
Is a series of trapeze swings. I'm either hanging onto a.
00:00:56
Trapeze bar. Swinging along.
00:00:59
Or for a few minutes in my. Life.
00:01:01
I'm hurtling across space in between trapeze bars.
00:01:05
Most of the time I spent my life hanging on for dear life to my.
00:01:09
Trapeze bar. Of the moment.
00:01:12
It carries me along at a certain steady rate of swing, and I have
00:01:16
the feeling that I'm in control of my life.
00:01:19
I know most of the right questions and even some of the
00:01:22
answers, but every once in a while.
00:01:26
As I'm merrily, or not so merrily, swinging along, I look
00:01:32
out ahead of me into the distance, and what do I see?
00:01:36
I. See another trapeze bar.
00:01:38
Swinging toward me. It's empty, and I know in that
00:01:43
place in me that knows that this new.
00:01:47
Trapeze bar. Has my name on it.
00:01:51
It is my next step, my growth, my aliveness coming to get me.
00:01:57
In my heart of hearts I know that for me to grow, I must
00:02:02
release my grip on this present, well known bar and move to the
00:02:06
new one. Each time it happens to me, I
00:02:11
hope. Now I pray.
00:02:14
That I won't have to let. Go of my old bar completely
00:02:18
before I grab the new one, but in my knowing place.
00:02:23
I know that I must totally release my grasp on my old bar
00:02:28
and that for some moment in time I must hurdle.
00:02:32
Across space. Before I can grab onto the new
00:02:36
bar each time I'm filled with. Terror.
00:02:40
It doesn't matter that in all my.
00:02:43
Previous hurdles across the. Void of unknowing I.
00:02:47
Have always made it. I am each time afraid that I
00:02:51
will miss. And thy will be.
00:02:53
Crushed. An unseen rocks in the
00:02:57
bottomless chasm between. Bars I.
00:03:00
Do it anyway, perhaps? This is.
00:03:03
The essence of what? The Mystics.
00:03:05
Call the. Faith experience.
00:03:08
No guarantees, no net, no insurance policy.
00:03:13
But you do it anyway. Because somehow.
00:03:16
To keep hanging on to that old. Bar.
00:03:19
Is no longer on the list of alternatives.
00:03:24
So. For an eternity that can last a
00:03:27
microsecond or 1000 lifetimes. I saw across the dark void of
00:03:32
the past is. Gone.
00:03:35
The future is not yet here. It's called transition.
00:03:41
I have come to believe that this transition is the only place
00:03:45
that real change occurs. I mean real change, not the
00:03:50
pseudo change. That only lasts until the next
00:03:53
time my old buttons get punched. I have noticed that in our
00:03:58
culture, this transition zone is looked upon as a no thing, a no
00:04:04
place between. Places.
00:04:06
Sure. The old trapeze bar was real.
00:04:10
And that new one coming towards me.
00:04:13
I hope that's real too. But the void in between.
00:04:19
Is that just a? Scary, Confusing, disoriented.
00:04:22
Nowhere that must be gotten. Through as.
00:04:25
Fast and as unconsciously as. Possible.
00:04:28
No, what a wasted opportunity that would be.
00:04:33
I have a sneaking suspicion that the transition zone is the only
00:04:39
real thing, and the bars are illusions.
00:04:42
We dream up to avoid the. Void where the?
00:04:46
Real change. The real growth occurs for us.
00:04:51
Whether or not my hunch is true, it remains that the transition
00:04:56
zones in our lives are incredibly.
00:04:59
Rich places. They should be honored even.
00:05:03
Savored Yes. With all the pain and fear and
00:05:08
feelings of being out of control that can, but not necessarily
00:05:13
accompany transitions. They are still the most alive.
00:05:19
Most. Growth filled.
00:05:21
Passionate, expansive moments in our.
00:05:25
Lives we. Cannot discover new oceans
00:05:31
unless. We have the courage to lose
00:05:32
sight of the shore so. Transformation of fear may have
00:05:38
nothing to do with making fear. Go away.
00:05:42
But rather with giving ourselves permission to.
00:05:45
Hang out in the transition between.
00:05:49
Trapezes transforming. Our need to grab that new bar,
00:05:56
any bar, is allowing ourselves to dwell in the only place where
00:06:01
change really happens. It can be terrifying.
00:06:06
It can also be enlightening in the true sense.
00:06:10
Of the word. Hurtling through the void.
00:06:14
We just may learn how to fly. Thank you for being with us
00:06:27
today and we hope that you enjoyed.
00:06:29
This episode. And if you did, please leave a
00:06:32

00:06:39
Talk to you soon. Bye.
