Spotify Video Trends

James Cridland from Podnews reported that Spotify has ended exclusive arrangements allowing those top podcasters to now be available on other platforms.

While the company did have layoffs (2,300) in 2023 they are growing.

Spotify made a profit last year and  has 3.6 billion euros ($3.9 billion) in first-quarter revenue and a gross profit of 1 billion euros ($1.08 billion).

Spotify began offering video podcasts in 2021 and now has more than 100,000 video podcasts on its platform, according to TubeFilter.

Spotify claims that video is more popular in the evenings, while audio is used more during the day.

I started video recording of my podcast on YouTube 4/23 and have seen plays increase from 1279 to 3543 (+177%).

I started video recording on Spotify 1/24 and saw a nice jump in impressions from 580 to 1279 (+121%)
